>>Missing 3-Year-Old Possibly Taken by Woman Found Safe

(Minneapolis, MN) — A missing three-year-old has been found safe after being reported missing Sunday in the hands of a homeless acquaintance. The Minneapolis Police haven’t released details about where Aaliyah Evans was found or her condition. Evans’s mother reported her missing after leaving her with an unhoused woman she knew outside a Target store, and the two disappeared without permission.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A 25-year-old woman has been charged with the second-degree manslaughter of her five-month-old child. Minneapolis police responded to a home on February 1st on a report of a child in distress. Officers found an infant unresponsive, and he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The child’s mother, Grace Handy, told officers she put the baby on top of a pillow on a large couch, went to bed, and when she came back, the child was face down on the couch and not breathing. Officers say Handy appeared to be under the influence, and a search of the home turned up fentanyl and alcohol. Investigation found several safer options for the infant to sleep, and the baby’s cause of death was listed as “undetermined.” Handy is not in custody.

 

>>Minneapolis Man Charged with ‘Target, Execution’ of Iowa Man

(St. Paul, MN) — A Minneapolis man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the “target and execution” of 32-year-old Lul Chak of Iowa. Police responded to a St. Paul apartment Friday on a report of gunshots. Chak was found and pronounced dead behind the building. Police say the 22-year-old suspect and another person waited in a vehicle outside the apartment, shot Chak and two others, and fled. Surveillance video shows the two driving in the area for around 20 minutes before the shooting. The 22-year-old suspect’s girlfriend confirmed her boyfriend had taken her vehicle that night. The man was arrested there, and a handgun matching one of the casings found at the scene was found at her apartment.

 

>>Rochester Man Faces Drug Selling Charges

(Rochester, MN) — A Rochester man faces charges for allegedly selling fentanyl pills. 26-year-old Devantae Noiheuan-Osborne was the main focus of an investigation beginning in July, accused of selling M-30 fentanyl pills multiple times to a confidential informant working with Rochester Police. Officials sent in the informant to Noiheuan-Osborne’s southeast Rochester home three separate times across July, August, and September to buy the pills, each purchase including over 40 pills. A search warrant of the home last week found two fentanyl pills after Noiheuan-Osborne denied the presence, selling, or use of drugs. He was released without bail Friday and is due in court next month.

(Undated) – 31 cities across Minnesota are getting grant funding courtesy of the Department of Employment and Economic Development. Community Finance Executive Director Meredith Udoibok says the program is aimed at smaller communities and features commercial and housing rehabilitation and public facility projects. He says Greater Minnesota is a “very strong engine for our economy, and if we don’t have vibrant communities and businesses, we have a problem.” $20.8 million was awarded during this most recent round of funding.

The seventh-ranked Bulldogs rallied past the number-one Buckeyes 4-3 in the series finale Sunday in Columbus. Caitlin Kraemer scored a pair of third-period goals in the Big Ten victory. UMD hosts Syracuse in the home opener Saturday at Amsoil Arena.
