A Minneapolis home day care provider is charged with second-degree murder after authorities say she shook an 11-month-old boy so he suffered fatal brain injuries. 42-year-old Sylwia Pawlak-Reynolds told investigators the baby was crying loudly, she put him in a highchair, left briefly to check on other children and, when she returned, the child was limp, his eyes were partly closed and his tongue was sticking out. The baby’s parents told police Pawlak-Reynolds was “overwhelmed” and they considered moving the victim and his six-year-old sister to a different day care provider.
