The Minnesota D-N-R has granted a permit for “Plan B” for the controversial Fargo-Moorhead flood diversion project. Commissioner Tom Landwehr calls it a balanced approach — while noting “it isn’t possible to build a large flood protection project without adversely affecting some people…. However, Plan B meets Minnesota’s high permitting standards and does a better job of balancing the benefits and the average impacts between the two states than the previously denied proposal.”
Governor Mark Dayton is thanking North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum for “excellent leadership throughout this process.” Dayton says, “We have forged a good working partnership, which will be important for this and other collaborative projects, involving our two states.”
