Minnesota employers shed 1,700 jobs in October. State job analyst Steve Hine says this is the fourth month of the last six that employment has declined. He says a lot of this is driven or at least correlated with fairly lackluster labor force growth. Sectors that lost jobs last month: leisure and hospitality down 23-hundred, construction down 22-hundred and trade, transportation and utilities down 800. Despite last month’s job cuts, the state’s unemployment rate did fall a tenth of a point to 3.7 percent.
