Minnesota is back in the top spot after the state Canvassing Board officially certified results of the November 6th election. State Elections Director Gary Poser says just over 74 percent of registered voters turned out, and over 64 percent of *eligible* voters actually voted — the highest percentage in a non-presidential election since 2002. “I proudly say that that places Minnesota as number one in voter turnout nationwide over all of the states, regaining our position,” Poser says.
Secretary of State Steven Simon says although Minnesota leads the nation in voter participation, there’s still much more to be done to make democracy meaningful and accessible for everyone.
