The National Alliance on Mental Illness ranks Minnesota top in the nation along with New York and Virginia for reforms to its mental health system. NAMI Minnesota spokesman Sue Abderholden says it’s because the state has made increasing investments across the board — including crisis teams, residential treatment, employment and housing. “We’ve looked at all the different services that are necessary — we haven’t just focused on one thing,” she says. Abderholden adds the next step is to continue expanding services.
