(Minneapolis, MN) — Golden Gopher star wrestler Gable Steveson (STEVE-son) of Apple Valley leaves for Toyko tomorrow, where he will be chasing Olympic gold in free style wrestling. Steveson is a two-time Big Ten champion and a national titlist with the Golden Gophers and earned an Olympic spot as the 125-kilogram U-S wrestler by winning the Olympic Trials this spring. Steveson says his goal is to win the gold medal, but he knows it will not be easy. He says this a moment he has waited for his entire wrestling career and he is looking forward to “putting on a show” in Japan. Steveson has become famous as a heavyweight in doing a backflip after big victories and he says he will only perform the move in Japan if he wins the gold medal.
