A religious celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior has been canceled tonight (Tues) at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis because of the snowstorm. The event, spearheaded by black churches in the Twin Cities, will be rescheduled for the weeks ahead. Bishop Richard Howell at Shiloh Temple International Ministries says when King delivered his famous “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech 50 years ago in Memphis, the weather was terrible also.
