Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon today presiding as the state’s ten electors cast their votes in St. Paul for Hillary Clinton for president of the United States. The proceedings were delayed a bit when elector Muhammad Abdurrahman from Congressional Distrcit 5 opted not to cast a vote. An alternate was selected in his place. Minnesota’s electors are required by state law to vote for the candidate who received the highest number of popular votes in the state. In Minnesota it was Hillary Clinton, who beat Donald Trump by 44,765 votes.
