Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota Erica MacDonald today jointly announced the formation of the Minnesota COVID-19 Action Team (MCAT). MacDonald says the team will focus on “fraudulent wrongdoing, scams, fake cures that are sole to people who are vulnerable at this time, hate crimes that are predicated on ignorance about who is responsible for COVID-19 and its spread throughout the United States.” MacDonald says threats against law enforcement and cybercrimes will also be investigated by MCAT. And she wants Minnesotans to know “we remain vigilant the U-S attorney’s office, the Attorney General’s office, all of your county attorneys, law enforcement, we remain vigilant and we are open for business and we continue to work throughout this crisis, we are there to protect you.” Minnesotans with concerns or complaints about unlawful activity related to COVID-19 are encouraged to call the Attorney General’s office at 651-296-3353 or 800-657-3787.
