Minnesota activists at the State Capitol today say they’re joining the national Poor People’s Campaign and if necessary will use Martin Luther King Junior’s non-violent tactics to get lawmakers to address systemic racism, poverty and environmental devastation. Minnesota campaign Co-Chair, Pastor DeWayne Davis says, “We’re gonna talk about these issues, we’re gonna talk about ’em loudly, and if we don’t get your attention that way, we’re gonna do direct action so that you will pay attention to what we have to say.”
The group is asking leaders of the Minnesota Legislature to support a “moral agenda that lifts up the common good.” The 2018 session begins in two weeks.
