Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson is back from an exploratory trade mission to Cuba, as the U-S moves toward easing its embargoes. Frederickson says he sees potential markets for Minnesota poultry, dairy products and canned meats. Frederickson says “we want to be close to first in line. If there’s an opportunity, we want to develop those relationships early on.” He adds that trade is a two-way street, and his impression is that Cuba is willing to work with Minnesota but they’re looking for partnerships. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Congressman Tom Emmer have both introduced bills to normalize trade with Cuba.
