With Congress poised to pass a $2 trillion COVID-19 stimulus deal, the Minnesota Better Business Bureau says consumers should be on high alert for phishing scams. Spokeswoman Bao Vang says thieves may attempt to steal personal or financial account information by sending deceptive electronic messages that trick unsuspecting consumers into disclosing personal information. Vang says “government agencies do not communicate through social media, they’re not going to send you a Facebook message.” And she says government agencies also would not ask for personal information like social security or credit card numbers. Anyone who suspects they’re being targeted by a phishing scam is urged to report it online at the Better Business Bureau’s Scam Tracker. Here’s more with Bao Vang:
