Democrats at the state legislature unveiled a package of proposed reforms this week that they say will help the next generation of Main Street businesses in Minnesota. House Minority Leader Paul Thissen says “it’s from conversations we’ve had with folks all around the state about solving just some practical problems that small businesses face.” Democrats want start-up businesses to get complete information on available resources. They also propose to reduce businesses’ audit costs, simplify tax filing, and make it easier for owners to transfer their businesses to next-generation owners.
