Minnesota Republican Party Chair Keith Downey says President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration today is cause for celebration and a time for “Americans to come together and support our new president.”
Chairman Ken Martin of the DFL agrees with his counterpart that a unified country is the goal, but so far he’s skeptical that Trump will lead the way.
“Donald Trump lacks any sort of substantive policy that’s going to help improve people’s lives,” says Martin said.”
“Well I’d say the American people disagreed pretty strongly with that,” Downing counters. “Obviously Ken Martin and the Democrats kind of rigged the Democrat nomination for Hillary Clinton and that backfired.”
Downey says Trump’s administration has a bold agenda for its first 100 days, and he’s “looking forward to all that will be accomplished for the American people.”
