The head of the Minnesota Democratic Party is criticizing a bill that would prohibit collecting information on voters’ political party choices during the upcoming presidential primary. Chairman Ken Martin says the Minnesota D-F-L doesn’t need that data, but the national party requires it or Minnesota can’t send its delegation to the national convention. “Whether I agree with it or not, that’s what I have to comply with, otherwise Minnesota will not have a voice at our national convention in Milwaukee,” Martin says.
Republican State Representative Pat Garofalo from Farmington fires back, “They are not going to remove delegates that are duly apportioned from the state of Minnesota at their national conventions. If they did, it would be a political disaster for ’em in the state of Minnesota.”
