MN-DOT announces its 2018 “Corridors of Commerce” highway projects this morning. Those projects get much attention particularly in Greater Minnesota, and this session they have the legislature’s attention also: The Senate’s budget bill requires a 50-50 split of projects between Greater Minnesota and the metro area. Some lawmakers say Corridors of Commerce projects have been weighted too heavily towards in the Twin Cities in the past. But others argue a 50-50 requirement is the legislature micromanaging MN-DOT and decisions should be made based on engineering, not politics.
