MN-DOT is suspending work on most construction projects this Fourth of July (most projects Wednesday only), but motorists could still encounter bypasses, lane closures and detours. The agency’s Judy Jacobs says even though crews might not be out in most places, drivers still need to pay attention. Case in point: “We recently had a driver drive about a thousand feet, past a road that was blocked off, through fresh concrete.”
But consequences of not paying attention in a construction zone can be a lot more serious than ruined concrete. There are construction zones in sections of major thoroughfares, including I-94, I-35 and Highways 10, 14, 63 and 169. Check 511mn.org for construction along your holiday travel route and plan accordingly.
