Minnesota Republican party Chair Jennifer Carnahan calls the sexual harassment allegations against Senator Al Franken “deeply disturbing” and she’s calling on Franken to resign. Asked why Carnahan hasn’t called for State Representative Tony Cornish–who also faces accusations of sexual harassment–to step down, Carnahan explains that “with Senator Franken the photographic evidence that came out was disturbing and obviously there’s a woman on record and she’s acknowledged it and that it’s wrong.” Carnahan says it’s not a matter of partisan politics. She says “when you’re in the U-S Senate representing Minnesota, you’re held, everyone that’s elected is held to a standard and we need to make sure we’re holding our leaders and elected officials accountable.” Regarding Cornish, Carnahan says she supports an outside independent investigation into the claims against him and if they’re found to be true, she will call for Cornish’s resignation. Here’s MNN’s Scott Peterson’s interview with Chair Carnahan.
