Controversy is brewing ahead of President Trump’s visit today to Minnesota in the wake of his recent tweets about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Omar says death threats have increased since the president’s tweets. Minnesota GOP Chair Jennifer Carnahan says as someone who’s received death threats herself, she sympathizes but adds “maybe [Omar] should stop stepping on a hornet’s nest and using inflammatory language and pushing a narrative out there that gives people reason to believe that she’s anti-American.” The president late last week tweeted a video of images from the 9-11 attacks alongside comments Omar made about civil rights of Muslims in America since then. Trump this morning tweeted that Omar has made “anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and ungrateful U.S. HATE statements” and he says that Omar is “out of control.” On this tax day, the president is visiting Minnesota to tout his tax cuts and the state of the U-S economy. Carnahan says Trump’s tax plan has had a positive impact on Minnesota’s businesses. State Democrats say the president’s plan unfairly benefits the wealthy. Here is more with Chair Carnahan:
