Some analysts say a governor’s race straw poll at tomorrow night’s (Tues) precinct caucuses won’t mean much on the Republican side because former Governor Tim Pawlenty hasn’t announced whether he’ll run again. State G-O-P Chair Jennifer Carnahan says, “If he decides to get in the race, it would certainly add a new dimension to the Republican side, I think which would be all positive for everybody…. People I think are still gonna turn out to vote and support the candidates that they’ve gotten behind at this juncture for tomorrow night.”
The latest poll showed Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson leading the Republican field for governor with former state party chair Keith Downey as his main challenger. There are six D-F-L candidates for governor. The latest poll shows Congressman Tim Walz as front-runner.
