The U-S Supreme Court is considering whether government employees who don’t belong to a union must still pay union dues. Denise Specht (SPECK) with Education Minnesota warns corporate interests are trying to “de-fang” unions. Specht says, “Are we going to lose some members? Sure. But our union members know the strength and the power of being in union, and we believe they will join us.”
Kim Crockett with the Center of the American Experiment says current “fair share” dues are a forced system where the government collects dues for unions. She says, “They don’t have to worry about a thing. They don’t have to earn it, and then what do they do? They go off and spend it on politics.”
Union leaders respond they’re protecting the rights of workers.
