Minnesota House Speaker, Democrat Melissa Hortman says one of the major accomplishments of the special session just ended is that the new budget “preserves health care for more than a million Minnesotans. That is a substantial accomplishment. That was the primary task of this session.”
Democrats got Republicans to agree to continue the medical provider tax. House Republican Minority Leader Kurt Daudt says about that, “Democrats did succeed this session at raising health care costs for Minnesotans, however Republicans were able to stop the gas tax [increase] and… probably eight or ten billion dollars worth of other taxes over the next four years.”
