Minnesota House Democrats say their tax-cut plan unveiled today (Tues) targets relief to low- and middle-income families — not millionaires and large corporations who don’t need it. Tax Committee Chair, Dilworth Democrat Paul Marquart says, “If you are a family of four with one child from birth to four years of age, your first 88 thousand dollars of income is tax-free.” And Marquart says the first 132 thousand dollars would have no state income tax for a family of four with two pre-K children.
House Democrats also propose what they say is the largest property tax cut in decades by changing the renter’s credit, and beefing up the homeowner’s credit to focus on incomes between 21-thousand and 77-thousand dollars.
