Special interests at the State Capitol are eagerly waiting for House Republicans to release their bonding proposal for state public works projects, which could come this week. House Speaker Kurt Daudt says about the state’s public infrastructure, “We are behind the eight-ball right now, and certainly know how important a bonding bill is.” House Republicans’ bonding package will likely be in the 800-million-dollar range — about half of what Governor Mark Dayton is proposing. The Senate’s dollar amount is between the other two. There’s talk of linking a bonding bill to tax cuts, which long-time lawmakers warn has always been the “kiss of death” for a bonding package.
