Minnesota House lawmakers get public input tonight (5-7pm) in southeast Minneapolis on a Democrat-backed plan to help businesses rebuild after the riots that tore up parts of the Twin Cities one month ago. Majority Leader Ryan Winkler says, “We want to make sure that those people who put their heart and soul and all of their net worth and work into these businesses are able to rebuild and recover in a way that works for them.”
House Democrats propose a nine-member “community repair panel” to distribute state grants and loans based on the needs of individual businesses. The plan didn’t move forward in the first special session, but they’ll have another opportunity in a second special session that’s likely next week.
