The Minnesota House has unanimously approved a bill requiring hotel owners and operators to ensure that employees are trained to recognize potential sex trafficking so authorities can be notified. Sponsor, Ramsey Republican Abigail Whelan told colleagues, “Members, I think this bill is needed. I think this bill will help people in our state get set free from the bonds of sex trafficking, and so I ask for your support.”
The bill also requires hotel operators conduct ongoing awareness campaigns for employees.
