Minnesota House Republicans are crying “foul” after state Human Services Department transferred its Inspector General Carolyn Ham — on leave and under investigation for an alleged fraud cover-up — to a different division in that agency. Elk River Representative Nick Zerwas says what’s “really, really shocking” is that “this woman should be brought back as a public employee in the general counsel’s office at taxpayers’ expense, when the taxpayer-funded investigation hasn’t even been completed.”
Zerwas says now that the investigation has finally begun after months of delay, “they should expedite it. They should leave her out of the Department of Human Services so she can’t screw anything else up. They should finish the investigation and then deal with her.”
State Human Services Department officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
