Minnesota House Republicans have unveiled their 825-million-dollar bonding bill for state public works projects. It’s a similar dollar amount to what’s expected in Senate Republicans’ bonding package, but only a little over half the 1.5 billion dollars Governor Mark Dayton requested. Nearly half the money in House Republicans’ bill would go to preserve existing buildings, 120 million dollars for roads and bridges and 153 million for water and conservation projects. Money for proposed new veterans homes in Bemidji, Montevideo and Preston would not be from bonding but instead the Vikings Stadium Reserve Account — something Governor Dayton opposes. It’s expected Senate Republicans, however, will propose bonding dollars — but only for one new veterans home, not three.
