MN House, Senate begin negotiations on MNLARS funding bill

March 21, 2018 By Bill Werner

Negotiators for the Minnesota House and Senate are now trying to work out a compromise on additional funding to fix the state’s problem-ridden vehicle registration system, MNLARS. South Saint Paul Democrat Rick Hansen said on the House floor today, “Time is marching on. We’re moving towards the end of the month. We know what the consequences are of these daily, and then now weekly, delays.”  Hanska Republican Paul Torkelson responded, “Representative Hansen, you’ve said over and over how we need to move as quickly as possible. This issue has been discussed in great detail in both bodies, and we will do our conference committee work just as fast as we can.”

Governor Mark Dayton says he’ll veto any bill that requires he get the 10 million dollars from existing state agency budgets.
