House Speaker Kurt Daudt indicated today that some kind of gun regulation bill could still move forward in the Minnesota House. Daudt says, “There are ongoing conversations kind of behind-the-scenes between members who are trying to work to find consensus on solutions that will really help reduce putting guns in the hands of potentially dangerous criminals.” Daudt said some of those discussions are about requiring more background checks — the focus of an overnight sit-in by Representative Erin Maye Quade, who received applause from Democratic colleagues on the House floor as anti-gun-violence groups chanted outside the chamber.
