About 89 percent favor background checks on all gun sales, down slightly from last year — and about 56 percent support legalizing recreational marijuana, up slightly from last year — those are the results of the annual Minnesota House State Fair poll, a non-scientific survey of what this year was over 11-thousand people who stopped at the booth and gave their opinions. Nearly three quarters favored a ban applying to vulnerable adults and those under age 18 on so-called “conversion therapy” that seeks to change sexual orientation. 55 percent support a paid family and medical leave program funded by contributions from workers and employers. About 43 percent say those obtaining a Minnesota drivers license should have to provide proof of citizenship, but 50 percent are against that proposal.
