Rep. Greg Davids (R-Preston)
The GOP-controlled Minnesota House this afternoon debates and will likely pass Republicans’ bill for 1.35 billion dollars in tax cuts — which would go to seniors on Social Security, businesses, farmers, students with college loans, homeowners, renters and others. Preston Representative Greg Davids points to the state’s continuing budget surpluses saying, “We have overcharged Minnesotans 1.6 billion dollars. They need to get some of that back.” Governor Mark Dayton warns large permanent tax cuts will throw the state budget back into deficit if the economy slows down. Davids responds putting money back in taxpayers’ pockets will help keep the economy strong.
