A Minnesota House committee gets another update this morning (10am) on the state’s troubled vehicle licensing and registration system. It comes less than a week after news that the state has hired an I-T company from Colorado to make sure the MNLARS system can handle drivers licenses before next October’s deadline to comply with federal REAL ID. The Dayton administration says the system has much improved on how it processes vehicle registrations, but others point to continuing problems with functions such as transferring special plates from one vehicle to another. Meanwhile, D-F-L Representative Rick Hansen from South Saint Paul wants the state to set aside 10 million dollars to reimburse deputy registrars for additional expenses and overtime they’ve incurred due to problems with the state’s system.
