President Trump said Thursday night in Rochester that manufacturers are returning to America and touted the U-S/Canada/Mexico trade agreement as “a great and fair deal… and that’s what we want.” At the Minnesota Manufacturers Summit today in Brooklyn Park, incoming Minnesota Chamber Board Chair Eric Gibson says he fully supports the president’s efforts — but adds it takes time to bring facilities and work force up-to-speed. “At this point, we don’t have that capacity available to match what I think he’s negotiating at a global level,” Gibson says, and stresses that American manufacturers need more young people in technical schools and apprenticeship programs.
