Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon is in Le Sueur County in southern Minnesota today, talking with local officials about efforts to replace Minnesota’s aging election equipment. Simon says, “While we’re not in a crisis yet, we will be in another election cycle — certainly two, if we do nothing. It’s the old saying: You’ve got to dig your well before you’re thirsty.” Simon and a group of elections officials and officeholders are trying to persuade the legislature this session or next to provide funding to replace outdated election equipment. Simon is also speaking to students at Gustavus Adolphus College today and meeting with business leaders in Mankato, Gaylord and Shakopee.
