A Minnesota Senate panel this morning takes a closer look at last summer’s data breach that put at-risk the personal data of thousands of Minnesotans on Medical Assistance, the state’s version of Medicaid. Deputy Human Services Commissioner Chuck Johnson said last week the hack happened when two employees clicked on phishing scam links in emails in June and July. “We regret that this breach happened and apologize to the 21-thousand Minnesotans who were affected by it,” he said. Senate Republican Leader Paul Gazelka said there’s “no excuse” for the department taking so long to notify potential victims.
