Rep. Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska)
Minnesota Senate Democrats came down on their bonding bill number today, $100 million closer to Republicans — but they’re still nearly double GOP lawmakers’ last offer of $800 million. House Capital Investment Committee Chairman, Hanska Republican Paul Torkelson, says Democrats’ drop will have to be more significant than to $1.4 billion. “I can’t conceive that… would be where we would end up,” Torkelson says. Lawmakers are trying to agree on a bonding bill for state construction projects with barely over a day remaining to the legislature’s deadline at midnight Sunday.
