Minnesota Senate Democrats release their state budget outline this morning, but House Republicans already drew battle lines last week. That’s when they proposed a bonding bill of 600 million dollars — less than half of what Governor Mark Dayton wants. And House Republicans drew even sharper battle lines over transportation funding, saying they hope for a “significant amount” of road and bridge funding in the bonding bill. Democrats respond that leaves little for other necessary public works projects in Minnesota. House Republicans say absolutely no gas tax increase like Governor Dayton proposes. But Democrats say the GOP’s plan to also get transportation dollars from the General Fund will take money from schools and other needed programs.
