Sen. Roger Chamberlain (R-Lino Lakes)
Minnesota Senate Republicans are waiting until after Tuesday’s state economic forecast to give specifics, but promise tax relief this legislative session. Lino Lakes Senator Roger Chamberlain says it’s been 17 years since Minnesotans saw real tax relief through tax cuts. Chamberlain says since then, “income taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, tobacco taxes — every tax you can think of has increased.” Top Republicans say there’s talk about agriculture and business property tax relief, exempting Social Security from state taxes and something on student loans. Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka says tax relief “certainly… will be more generous than what the governor has proposed.”
