Minnesota Senate Republicans unveiled their tax cut proposal today and Lino Lakes Senator Roger Chamberlain says over 99 percent of Minnesotans will be protected from any tax increases: “99.8, to be exact…. About 82 percent… will see decreases on their tax bill.” Senate Republicans propose dropping the lowest income tax rate by a quarter-percent. They say Minnesotans would keep popular deductions for mortgage interest, property taxes and charitable donations. The Senate G-O-P plan would also reduce individual income tax rates a tenth of a percent during the next calendar year if there’s a significant state budget surplus.
