The Minnesota Senate votes today on a bill with 13 million dollars to reimburse deputy registrars for losses caused by the state’s problem-plagued vehicle registration and licensing system, MN-LARS. Faribault Republican John Jasinski says registrars need to be reimbursed for loss of business, overtime and other expenses. “They’ve been borrowing from their 401-K’s or retirement or their reserves to keep things going,” he says. “They’re doing the state’s business. As many people in Greater Minnesota know, these are the heart of getting your license tabs renewed, your drivers license done.”
Deputy registrars are also asking for transaction fee increases, which Jasinski says he hopes will be in another bill.
