The Minnesota Senate with no dissenting votes has approved a bill that would tighten rules and oversight at the public agency that runs U-S Bank Stadium. It’s prompted by earlier revelations that Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority officials allowed friends and family access to luxury suites with food and parking. Senator Julie Rosen from Vernon Center says, “We’re making this tremendous asset that we have more accountable, more transparent, and we are being responsible partners along with the City of Minneapolis and the primary tenant, the Vikings.” The Senate and House must now work out their differences over the bill. One controversial area is proposed changes to the Sports Facilities Authority board and who makes the appointments.
