The Minnesota Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of the man found guilty of killing Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick in 2014.
41-year-old Brian Fitch argued he should have been tried in the county where the alleged offense occurred and that the charge in Officer Patrick’s murder should have been separate from charges against him for a shootout with police following a massive manhunt. Patrick was killed in Dakota County and the shootout was in Ramsey County.
Fitch’s trial was moved to Stearns County because of pre-trial publicity.
