(New York, NY) — The Minnesota Wild scored three straight to beat the Rangers 3-1 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden and end a three game losing streak. New York scored :57 seconds into the game but the Wild answered four minutes later when defenseman Jonas Brodin tied the game at one. That was the score until the third period when Wild rookie Danilla Yurov tallied his first N-H-L goal which proved to be the eventual game winner. Kirill Kaprizov scored his team leading fifth of the season to ice the win. Filip Gustavsson made 22 saves for the victory. Minnesota gets their first win on the road trip to go 1-2-1 so far. The trip concludes in New Jersey tomorrow night at 6 P-M.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins are still searching for their next manager. The Star Tribune is reporting that the team plans to interview Vance Wilson and Scott Servais for the opening. Servais led the Mariners from 2016 until 2024, while Wilson has been a coach with the Royals since 2018. The Twins next manager will replace Rocco Baldelli, who was fired at the end of the 2025 campaign.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are dealing with some injuries on a short week. The team released an estimated injury report for Week Eight yesterday. The Vikes did not practice, so the report indicates the status of players if the unit had worked out. Quarterbacks J-J McCarthy and Carson Wentz were both listed as limited, while fullback C-J Ham and right tackle Brian O’Neill would have missed practice with injuries. (Detroit, MI) — The Detroit Lions sunk the Buccaneers 24-9 on Monday Night Football from Detroit. (Pittsburgh, PA) — The Green Bay Packers will match up with a familiar face this weekend. Green Bay will hit the road to face Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers on Sunday. This will be the first matchup for Rodgers against his former team, who he was drafted by in 2005. Green Bay enters the matchup at 4-1-and-1 this season and coming off back-to-back wins.

The Class 6-A opening round is slated for Friday.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota football team is back on the practice field today as it prepares for a tough road test at Iowa. The 5-2 Golden Gophers have won two straight games, including last Friday’s 24-6 home victory over Nebraska. Minnesota is 3-1 in the Big Ten. The host Hawkeyes are also 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Iowa has won nine of the last ten meetings between the two programs, but the last Minnesota win came at Kinnick Stadium in 2023. Gopher head coach P-J Fleck says he believes Iowa City is the hardest place to play and coach. He says it is loud, hostile and the fans are passionate. Saturday’s game will kick off at 2:40 P-M.

Minnesota State-Mankato sophomore Connor Fournier of Maple Grove is the N-S-I-C Football Special Teams Player of the Week. Sioux Falls freshman quarterback Tate Schafer of Sioux Falls is the N-S-I-C Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Northern State junior linebacker Jake Adams of Pulaski, Wisconsin is the league’s defensive honoree for the second time this season.

(Undated) — The W-C-H-A has suspended two women’s hockey players for one game each for their role in a benches clearing skirmish following the Minnesota-Ohio State game on Sunday. The third-ranked Gophers beat the second-rated Buckeyes 6-3. A face-off with just seconds remaining erupted into a melee which had to be broken up by coaches and referees. Minnesota’s Chloe Primerano and Ohio State’s Jordyn Pertrie each received a one-game suspension. In addition, Golden Gopher player Gracie Graham and Buckeye Kassidy Carmichael were given game misconduct penalties during the brawl, meaning they also will also miss their next game. Primerano and Graham will miss the Minnesota game on Friday at fourth-ranked Minnesota-Duluth. The Ohio State players will miss Friday’s game in Columbus against 11th-ranked St. Cloud State.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves open the regular season tomorrow night at Portland. The Wolves are coming off of their second consecutive season with an advancement to and then a loss in the N-B-A Western Conference Finals. There’s a push from the players to take it further this season. Minnesota center Rudy Gobert (go-BARE) says he is excited for his fourth season in Minnesota. He says he’s feeling great both physically and mentally. Gobert says their head coach Chris Finch is hungry for a title and is pushing them hard in that direction. (Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are bringing back their fan-favorite Prince-inspired City Edition uniforms. In partnership with Nike and the Prince’s Paisley Park Enterprises, the purple design returns with a custom court and themed nights at Target Center. The jersey first debuted in 2018, featuring a paisley detail, a faux studded pattern, and stylized T-wolves logos. The team will debut the look on November 15th and wear it seven times this season.

(Toronto, ON) — The Toronto Blue Jays are going to the World Series. The Blue Jays advanced to the 2025 Fall Classic after rallying for a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners in Game Seven of the A-L-C-S from Toronto. George Springer slugged a go-ahead three-run homer for the Jays in the bottom of the seventh inning. Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh each went deep for Seattle.

(Undated) — Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus is receiving a big payment following his defamation lawsuit against Nicklaus Companies. A Florida jury has awarded Nicklaus 50-million-dollars in his lawsuit against the company that is owned by billionaire banker Howard Milstein. The 85-year-old had filed the lawsuit in response to comments that Milstein and other company officials made in a previous lawsuit in a New York court. The false claims made against him included suggesting that Nicklaus had considered a 750-million-dollar deal to become the face of the Saudi Arabian-financed LIV Golf League.
