(Seattle, WA) — The Minnesota Wild salvaged a split on their road trip with a 4-1 win on Monday night in Seattle. Marcus Johansson broke a 1-1 tie with his ninth of the season 8:12 in the third to score the eventual game winner. Kirill Kaprizov and Vladimir Tarasenko added empty net goals in the final two minutes to ice the victory. Joel Eriksson Ek had a three point game in the win as the Wild finished the four game road trip 2-2-0, stopped a two game losing streak and improved to 9-2-1 in their last 12 games overall. Filip Gustavsson made 23 saves in the win as the Wild beat the Kraken for the sixth straight time at Climate Pledge Arena. In injury news, Mats Zuccarello took a hit up high late in the first period and did not return. After the game head coach John Hynes had no update. Jake Middleton and Matt Boldy were also banged up in the game. Minnesota opens a four game home stand on Thursday when they host the Stars at 7 P-M.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 108-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns at the Target Center last night. Jaden McDaniels missed a game-tying three at the buzzer to end the game. Anthony Edwards poured in 40 points in the losing effort, while Phoenix had a balanced effort with six guys in double figures. The Wolves shot 11-for-42 from three-point range. Minnesota center Rudy Gobert (go-BARE) was ejected from the game for a flagrant foul. The Wolves are in sixth place in the N-B-A Western Conference at 15-9. The Suns improved to 14-10. Minnesota visit the Warriors on Friday.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings will spend the week preparing for their game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this weekend. The Purple just snapped a four-game losing streak with a 31-0 win over Washington in Week 14. The Vikings are in last place in the N-F-C North at 5-8. The Vikes are off today and will return to practice tomorrow. Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is progressing nicely after sustaining a concussion in the team’s loss to the Detroit Lions last Thursday. (Inglewood, CA) — The Los Angeles Chargers pulled off a thrilling 22-19 overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium. Justin Herbert rushed for a team-high 66 yards and passed for 139 yards, one touchdown and an interception while playing just one week after undergoing surgery on his left hand. Omarion Hampton scored the team’s lone T-D on a four-yard reception in the first quarter and Cameron Dicker made all five of his field goal attempts, including the 54-yard game-winner in O-T. The Chargers are second in the A-F-C West at 9-4. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts passed for 240 yards and four interceptions. Saquon Barkley rushed for 122 yards and a score as the Eagles dropped to 8-5.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota football team will play New Mexico in the Rate Bowl on December 26th in Phoenix. The Golden Gophers went 7-and-5 overall and 5-and-4 in Big Ten play. The Lobos were 9-and-3 and 6-and-2 in the Mountain West. The U of M has won eight straight bowl games including last year’s 24-10 victory over Virginia Tech in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. This is New Mexico’s first bowl selection since 2016. The game is being played at 3:30 P-M the day after Christmas at the Arizona Diamondbacks’ ballpark.

(Undated) — The Bethel Royals advanced to the N-C-A-A Division III Football National Quarterfinals with a 35-24 win over UW-Platteville on Saturday in Arden Hills. Royals junior running back David Geebli of Coon Rapids raced for 167 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Bethel will visit North Central College in Naperville, Illinois for a game this Saturday at noon. Both teams are 12-0 on the season. Meanwhile, the Saint John’s football season ended with a 42-14 third round loss at UW-River Falls on Saturday. In addition, Minnesota State-Mankato dropped its national quarterfinal game in the N-C-A-A Division II Playoffs at Ferris State on Saturday 52-29.

Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love are up for the award. The winner will be announced Saturday in New York. The Heisman Trophy is given each year to the nation’s most outstanding college football player.

Free agent first baseman Pete Alonso is reportedly in attendance in Orlando and is set to meet with the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.
