>>Short-Handed Wolves Lose To Short-Handed Grizzlies

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves gave up a big third-quarter run during a 116-110 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Target Center last night. The Wolves led by nine in the middle of the frame before giving up a 21-5 Grizzlies run. Minnesota trailed throughout the fourth quarter. Julius Randle scored 21 points in the losing effort. Rudy Gobert (go-BARE) had 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Donte DiVincenzo had 19 points and 11 boards. Minnesota was without star player Anthony Edwards and point guard Mike Conley, Junior. The Wolves remain in sixth place in the Western Conference at 17-10. They host the Thunder tomorrow night. Memphis has now won two games in a row and four of its past five. The Grizzlies are 13-14 on the season. They were playing without several key players, including star Ja Morant.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins announced yesterday that Joe Pohlad would no longer be in charge of the team and instead his brother Tom Pohlad now be leading the franchise as controlling owner. Tom is the nephew of former Twins chairman Jim Pohlad and grandson of former Twins principal owner Carl Pohlad. Minnesota also announced that the venture capital firm Glick Family Investments, Minneapolis business leader George Hicks, and Wild owner Craig Leipold are all set to become minority owners of the franchise. That financial move helps get the club out of debt. Tom Pohlad says the decision to remove baseball decisions from his brother Joe has been tough on their family. Tom Pohlad says they want to recover the faith of the Twins fans.

(Minneapolis, MN) — A Minnesota Twins All-Star is joining Team U-S-A. Starting pitcher Joe Ryan announced yesterday that he will play for the United State in the 2026 World Baseball Classic this Spring. The 29-year-old went 13-10 with a 3.42 earned run average in 171 innings last year. In other Twins news, the team signed reliever Dan Altavilla to a minor league deal yesterday.

(Columbus, OH) — The Minnesota Wild go for their sixth win in a row when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena tonight. The Wild are coming off a 5-0 home win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. Minnesota is in third place in the Central Division with 45 points. Columbus recently snapped a five-game skid. Tonight’s game starts at 6 P-M.

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings won’t have one of their most versatile defensive player for the rest of the season. The team placed safety Josh Metellus on injured reserve yesterday. Metellus is expected to have season-ending surgery on an injured shoulder later this week. The sixth-year defensive back has two interceptions and a half sack this season. He is the second player this week who has been announced as having a season-ending injury. Linebacker Jonathan Greenard (GRUH-nard) will all undergo shoulder surgery. The Vikes had four players who didn’t practice yesterday, including Brian O’Neill, Christian Darrisaw, Ryan Kelly, and Javon Hargrave. The Vikings visit the Giants on Sunday at noon. Giants defensive tackle Kayvon Thibodeaux was one of four players missing from practice.

(Lake Forest, IL) — Chicaog Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson is earning recognition following a dominant game over the weekend. The Bears defender was named the N-F-C Defensive Player of the Week yesterday. Jackson had an interception and a sack as Chicago pulled out a 31-3 win over the Browns on Sunday. Jackson and the Bears go up against the Green Bay Packers at home on Saturday. In other team news, the Bears announced yesterday that they are exploring options in the state of Indiana for the site of their new stadium.

(Miami, FL) — The Miami Dolphins are making their quarterback change official. Head coach Mike McDaniel told the media on Wednesday that rookie Quinn Ewers (YOO-ers) will get the start against the Bengals at home on Sunday. McDaniel said they need “convicted” quarterback play and are benching Tua Tagovailoa as a result. Ewers was taken in the last round of Aprils’ draft.

(Seattle, WA) — A massive matchup kicks off Week 16 when the Seahawks host the Rams in Seattle tonight. The Seahawks are currently fifth in the N-F-C after collecting their fourth straight win. Seattle is tied atop the division with the Rams at 11-3. Los Angeles is the only team in the N-F-C that has already clinched a playoff spot. The Rams took down the Hawks in their first battle back in November. The top team in the conference is hoping to extend its winning streak to three games.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher football team kicks off against New Mexico in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix one week from tomorrow. Minnesota junior linebacker Maverick Baranowski says he is not only playing in the bowl game, but will also return to the team for the 2026 season. Baranowski led the team in tackles with 86. He says the 9-3 Lobos will provide a big challenge next week and the team is studying film and getting a gameplan implemented for the bowl game. (Undated) — U-S-C is losing one of its top offensive playmakers to the N-F-L. Wide receiver Makai Lemon is skipping his final season to declare for the 2026 N-F-L Draft. Lemon won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver this season after totaling 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns. Fellow receiver Ja’Kobi Lane declared for the draft earlier this week. They will both skip the 16th-ranked Trojans’ matchup against T-C-U in the Alamo Bowl December 30th.

(Undated) — College football’s bowl season continued on Wednesday. Old Dominion beat South Florida 24-10 in the Cure Bowl. Quinn Henicle threw for 127 yards and rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Monarchs to victory. In the nightcap, Delaware held on to beat Louisiana 20-13 in the 68 Ventures Bowl for the first bowl win in program history. Jo Silver led the Blue Hens with 116 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The action will continue tonight with Arkansas State and Missouri State battling in the Xbox Bowl.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota United are in the market for a new goalkeeper. All-Star goalie Dayne St. Clair signed a deal with Inter Miami yesterday. St. Clair became a free agent after spending the last seven seasons with the Loons. He saved 79-percent of the shots he faced in 30 matches with Minnesota last season.

(Inver Grove Heights, MN) – The Minnesota Hockey Hall of Fame has selected Inver Grove Heights as the future home of its 120,000-square-foot facility. The site will sit on 40 acres near Interstate 494, east of Vikings Lakes. Plans include a 30,000-square-foot museum, an ice rink, a performance venue, and a hockey-themed restaurant. Hall of Fame C-E-O Natalie Darwitz says the project will honor Minnesota’s hockey heritage and inspire future generations. Groundbreaking is expected in 2026, with a grand opening in late 2028.
