(Seattle, WA) — The Minnesota Wild are ready to finish up their seven game road trip tonight when they face the Kraken in Seattle. So far the Wild are 3-1-2 on the trip that started two weeks ago in Winnipeg. After beating the Jets the journey continued with stops in Vegas, Anaheim, San Jose and then a pair in Los Angeles against the Kings. Despite losing both games in L.A., the Wild still have eight of 12 points so far on the trip and will try and get a fourth win tonight in a place they’ve had a ton of luck. The Kraken entered the league in 2021 and while the Wild stubbed their toe in the first game at Climate Pledge Arena, they’ve won six straight since. The Kraken are hot though having won four straight and points in eight in a row. They’ve very much in the heat of the Pacific Division race. Puck drops at 9 P-M.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves go for their fourth win in a row when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers at Target Center tonight. The Wolves are coming off a 122-94 rout over the Miami Heat at home on Tuesday. Minnesota has a 24-13 record. Cleveland 21-17 and has won four of its last five games, including Tuesday’s 120-116 win at Indiana. Tonight’s game gets underway at 7 P-M.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Atlanta Hawks are officially moving on from Trae Young. E-S-P-N reports Atlanta traded the four-time All-Star to the Wizards in exchange for C-J McCollum and Corey Kispert. The 27-year-old spent eight seasons in the Peach State and averaged more than 25 points and nearly 10 assists per game since entering the league in 2018. Young had the nation’s capital as his top destination.

(St. Paul, MN) — The St. Thomas men’s basketball registered a 99-86 home win over South Dakota last night in St. Paul. Sophomore Isaiah Johnson-Arigu of Maple Grove paced the Tommies with 25 points on his birthday. Sophomore guard Nolan Minessale (MINN-uh-sah-lee) recorded a double-double with 22 points and 12 assists. St. Thomas improved to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in the Summit League. The visiting Coyotes dipped to 8-9 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss. The Tommies visit Oral Roberts on Saturday at 7 P-M.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team has a home game tonight against Northwestern at Williams Arena. Minnesota is 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten after Monday’s road setback at Michigan 70-60. Northwestern enters tonight’s game with a 6-9 season mark and is 0-4 in the Big Ten. Nationally-ranked Iowa beat the Wildcats on Monday night 67-58. Tonight’s contest starts a three-game homestand for the Golden Gophers, who will also entertain number-21 U-S-C on Sunday and fourth-ranked U-C-L-A next Wednesday. Tonight’s game tips off at 7 P-M at The Barn. Meanwhile, the Gopher men’s team welcomes U-S-C tomorrow night for a 7:30 P-M game at Williams Arena.

(Minneapolis, MN) — New Minnesota Twins manager Derek Shelton says he and the coaching staff are just beginning to understand the type of roster they have and are starting to build relationships with players to develop a plan for improvement. He says even veteran players can improve with the proper training specific to them and that’s what the coaching staff will get them once they learn more about each player. Shelton says he spent some of last summer reflecting on his first managerial job in Pittsburgh after he was fired in May. Twins pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Fort Myers in mid-February. The Grapefruit League season starts on February 21st against Boston, a night after a February 20th exhibition game against the Golden Gophers. The regular season begins at Baltimore on March 26th. The Minnesota home opener comes against Tampa Bay on April 3rd at Target Field.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs are fortifying their starting rotation. The Northsiders traded for Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera on Wednesday. Chicago sent its top prospect Owen Caissie along with infield prospects Cristian Hernandez and Edgardo De Leon back to Miami to complete the deal. Cabrera went 8-7 with a 3.53 earned run average and 150 strikeouts in 26 starts with the Marlins in 2025.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota United begin their season in a few days. The club released their training camp and preseason schedule yesterday. Players will report to the National Sports Center in Blaine starting on Saturday before heading to California a week from today. The Loons will play three friendlies to prepare for the regular season. Minnesota takes on Sporting K-C on February 7th before going up against the D-C United on February 11th. The United wrap up preseason play with a match against Charlotte F-C on Valentine’s Day.

(Chicago, IL) — The Green Bay Packers will begin their playoff run this weekend. Green Bay will hit the road to face the Chicago Bears on Saturday night. The teams split their two regular season meetings. Wednesday, the team activated linebacker Nick Niemann off of injured reserve and placed cornerback Bo Melton on IR. Niemann has not played since October due to a pectoral injury. The Bears are still dealing with some injuries heading into the postseason. Safety C-J Gardner-Johnson, linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, and defensive lineman Joe Tryon-Shoyinka all missed practice with injuries yesterday. Five other players were limited participants, including starting wide receivers Rome Odunze and D-J Moore.

(Glendale, AZ) — The College Football Playoff semifinals have arrived. Number-six Ole Miss will be kicking things off when it battles tenth-ranked Miami in the Fiesta Bowl tonight in Glendale. The Rebels have advanced to the C-F-P semis after collecting wins over number-11 Tulane and third-rated Georgia. Ole Miss is 13-1. The Hurricanes are also hoping to stay hot after beating number-seven Texas A-and-M and number-two Ohio State. Miami enters 12-2.

(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota deer hunters had a strong season in 2025. The Department of Natural Resources reports the statewide deer harvest was up nine-percent from last year and five-percent above the five-year average. Preliminary figures show hunters harvested 186,203 deer during the season, with every region of the state posting gains. Central and southeastern Minnesota saw an eight-percent increase over 2024 and an 11-percent jump compared to the five-year average. In the northeast, hunters harvested 14-percent more deer, a boost attributed to two consecutive mild winters.
