Brian Windhorst is reporting that there is mutual interest between the Wolves and Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Windhorst added that Minnesota remains a longshot to acquire the All-Star forward. The “Greek Freak” is averaging 28 points and ten rebounds per game this season.

(St. Paul, MN) — The nation’s longest home winning streak in college basketball came to an end last night when North Dakota upset St. Thomas in St. Paul 81-80. The Tommies had won 28 straight home games prior to last night’s setback. Caledonia native Eli King stole an inbounds pass and made a shot with under ten-seconds to play to push U-N-D to the victory. King finished with 14 points, while Garrett Anderson had 20 for the Fighting Hawks, who improved to 13-12 overall and 7-2 in the Summit League. The loss was the first at home for the Tommies since North Dakota beat them almost two years ago to the day. The Fighting Hawks beat St. Thomas on January 27th, 2024. St. Thomas was led by sophomore guard Nolan Minessale (minn-uh-SAH-lee ) , who scored 24 points. The Tommies fell to 17-6 overall and 6-2 in the Summit League. The Tommies welcome Kansas City on Sunday for a 1 P-M game at the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild are on a four-game point streak following a 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames at Grand Casino Arena. Danila Yurov and Vinnie Hinostroza both scored in the first period, while Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov each lit the lamp in the third. The Wild are in second place in the Central Division with 72 points. Morgan Frost scored Calgary’s only goal. The Flames are on a five-game losing streak. Minnesota is at Edmonton tomorrow night at 9 P-M.

The Vikings received ten votes in a survey of league coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own team. Minnesota State-Mankato was chosen second, followed by Sioux Falls, which got the other first-place vote. U-Mary was picked fourth, followed by Minnesota-Crookston, Jamestown, Winona State, Bemidji State, Minnesota State-Moorhead, St. Cloud State, and Minnesota-Duluth. Minnesota State-Moorhead senior Luzmary Diaz Castillo of Maracay, Venezuela has been named the N-S-I-C Preseason Women’s Tennis Player of the Year.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Philadelphis Eagles have finally settled on a new offensive coordinator. The team announced on Thursday that Sean Mannion will take over the role. The 33-year-old was the quarterbacks coach for the Packers this season after beginning his coaching career as an offensive assistant in Green Bay the year before. Mannion replaces Kevin Patullo, who was demoted after an abysmal first season as offensive coordinator. Mannion played quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings off and on between 2019 and 2023.

(Washington, DC) — Americans will devour millions more chickens wings during this year’s Super Bowl compared to last year. In its annual Chicken Wing Report, the National Chicken Council projects Americans will eat one-point-48-billion chicken wings during Super Bowl 60. That’s around ten-million more wings than last year. One-point-48-billion wings is enough to stretch 27 times between the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts to the Seattle Seahawks’ Lumen Field in Seattle. Overall, football fans have eaten nearly 20-percent more wings during this year’s N-F-L playoffs compared to last year.

A new national survey by the U-S Center for SafeSport polled nearly 35-hundred coaches across 66 sports. Many coaches say they experienced verbal abuse from parents. More than one-third reported discrimination based on sex, age, or physical appearance. Coaches also cited misconduct, including swearing at or humiliating officials and mistreating athletes. Female coaches reported higher rates of discrimination, burnout, and abuse than male coaches.
