(Fort Myers, FL) — The Minnesota Twins were off yesterday and will be back in action today in Fort Myers, Florida, hosting the Tampa Bay Rays. The Twins are 2-7-and-1 so far this Grapefruit League season after playing to a 2-2 draw with Atlanta on Sunday. Tampa Bay is 3-7 and has dropped three straight spring training games, including yesterday’s 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh. Today’s first pitch is set for 12:05 P-M at Hammond Stadium.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are hoping to stay hot when they host the Memphis Grizzlies tonight in Minneapolis. The 28-23 Wolves have won three straight and six of their past seven, including Sunday’s big road win at Denver 117-108. Minnesota stands in fourth-place in the N-B-A Western Conference, currently holding a position that would land them home court edge in the opening round of the postseason. Memphis is out of the playoff chase and sitting at 23-36 on the season. The Grizzlies beat Indiana on Sunday 125-106 in Indianapolis. Memphis beat Minnesota in Tennessee back on February 2nd 137-128. Tonight’s game tips off at 7 P-M at the Target Center.

(Minneapolis, MN) – Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is the Western Conference Player of the Week in the N-B-A. It’s the third time in his career that Edwards has won the honor. Edwards finished the week averaging 28.7 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor. The Wolves won all three games in the week. In other team news, the Timberwolves made a pair of roster moves official yesterday. As expected, Minnesota signed forward Kyle Anderson to a deal after he was cut by the Grizzlies. Anderson played for the Wolves from 2022-24 and averaged 7.8-points per game in those two seasons. The 32-year old Anderson has played in 68 career post-season games. Minnesota also inked guard Zyon Pullin to a two-way deal this week. He has appeared in 14 games for the G-League Iowa Wolves and averaged 23.8-points per game and was named G-League Player of the Month in November. He finished his college career at Florida in 2024 as a first-team all-SEC member.
>>St. Thomas Men and Women Prep For Summit League Basketball Tourneys This Week
(St. Paul, MN) — The St. Thomas men’s and women’s basketball teams are scheduled to play Summit League Tournament games later this week in Sioux Falls. The Tommies men’s team is the number-two seed in the event and will take on seven-seed South Dakota State on Thursday night at 8:30 P-M. The St. Thomas men are 23-8 on the season, while the Jackrabbits are 14-17 this year. Meanwhile, the Tommies women’s basketball team is the five-seed in the Summit League tourney and will face fourth-seeded Oral Roberts on Friday at noon. The St. Thomas women are 15-15 this year, but have won five of their past seven games. Oral Roberts is 15-14 this season. This is the first year both the St. Thomas teams are eligible to make the N-C-A-A Tournament if either or both win the Summit League Tourney. The championship game of both fields will take place on Sunday. All Summit League Tournament games will be played at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. >>Wild Prepping For Lightning
(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Wild will finish off a brief homestand tonight when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Grand Casino Arena. The Wild have dropped two of three out of the Olympic break including a 3-1 loss to the Blues on Sunday night. Kirill Kaprizov scored the only goal in that one as he tied Marian Gaborik for the franchise lead for goal scoring at 219 goals a piece. Despite the loss, the Wild are still 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall. They’ll host a Lightning team that’s lost just four times since Christmas. But the Wild have beaten them 11 of the last 12 meetings in St. Paul. Puck drop is at 8:47 P-M tonight from St. Paul. In other team news, the Wild claimed forward Robby Fabbri off of waivers from St. Louis. He has played in ten different N-H-L seasons, including 15 games with the Blues this season.

(St. Paul, MN) — The 2026 Minnesota Boy’s High School State Hockey Tournament field is set. Action begins tomorrow with quarterfinal action in Class 1-A. Class 2-A quarterfinals begin on Thursday. Moorhead is back to defend its crown in Class 2-A, while there will be a new champ in Class 1-A. (Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher men’s hockey team will play a Thursday/Friday Big Ten series for a second straight week when second-ranked Michigan State visits 3-M Arena at Mariucci this week. Minnesota split at top-ranked Michigan last weekend and head coach Bob Motzko says he wants his team to sustain that level of play. The Gophers are 11-20-and-2 overall and 7-14-and-1 in the Big Ten. The visiting Spartans are 24-7-and-1 overall and 15-6-and-1 in the league. Michigan State can win the regular season Big Ten title with a regulation win on either night. The Spartans beat the Gophers 3-1 and 3-2 in a series in East Lansing in January. Games both Thursday and Friday face off at 7 P-M in Minneapolis.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota baseball team takes on Milwaukee tonight at U-S Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. The 7-3 Golden Gophers will play the 2-8 Panthers tomorrow night, as well. Minnesota catcher Weber Neels has been named the Big Ten Baseball Player of the Week, after hitting .714 with four home runs and nines runs driven in in four games against Kansas. Games both tonight and tomorrow are set to start at 6:05 P-M.

(St. Paul, MN) — A pair of Minnesota United players are being recognized for their strong performances over the weekend. Forward Kelvin Yeboah and goalkeeper Drake Callender were both named to the M-L-S Team of the Matchday yesterday. Yeboah had a goal during Minnesota’s 1-nil win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday, while Callender earned his first clean sheet of the season. The Loons visit Nashville this Saturday.

(Undated) — The Houston Texans are adding a proven playmaker to their offense by acquiring running back David Montgomery in a trade with the Detroit Lions. E-S-P-N is reporting that Houston is adding Montgomery in exchange for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round selection. Montgomery had 2,506 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns in three seasons with the Lions.

(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota D-N-R is looking for applicants for its Conservation Officer Prep program, which helps people without law enforcement experience become conservation officers. As part of the process, the D-N-R’s Enforcement Division will hold two virtual open houses with information on conservation officer careers and the hiring process. Both sessions will stream on the division’s Facebook page at noon this Thursday, and noon on Tuesday, March 17th. Applications are open now through March 31st.
